"When I grow up, I want to be a caring person like you," said
Zheng Lu Ping, an eighth grader at Macau Red Cross Fraternity Junior High School
in Che Ling County of Mingshan District of Ya'an City. She thanked Macau Red
Cross (MRC) for rebuilding her school, and vowed to strive hard in her studies
and acquire more knowledge. She has pledged to become a medical doctor and to
help those in need, also she wants to contribute to both community and the nation.
The original site of her school was affected by the 2013 earthquake.
The 1st teaching building and teacher's room were severely damaged with many
dislocated walls. After the disaster, MRC donated RMB5.4 million to rebuild
a two-storied teaching complex, containing 10 general classrooms, 2 teacher's
offices, a soccer field, two basketball courts, a circular track stadium, and
13 other ancillary facilities. The project was commenced on November 5, 2014
and completed on August 24, 2015. Currently the school has a total number of
563 teachers and students and will benefit about 5,600 people.

and uneven, that made walking very difficult. It deteriorated further especially
after the disaster. She is extremely grateful to MRC and all the generous assistance
received from philanthropic benefactors of the nation, so as to help students
grow under full steam. In the newly reconstructed school premises, she affirms
that the facilities are now complete, which pave good foundation for her studies.
Zheng Lu Ping vowsto study diligently and enhance her knowledge, and wishes
to become a medical doctor. Even if her dream won't come true, she promises
