GEG Support MRC To Set up Disaster Preparedness Center |

(Macau Daily) Committed to providing continued support for
the local community following the ¡§8.23 Typhoon¡¨, Galaxy Entertainment Group
(¡§GEG¡¨) donated to different local non-profit organizations and social service
units for recovery and development in the community. Recently, GEG paid a visit
to Macau Red Cross (¡§MRC¡¨), one of the beneficiaries of GEG¡¦s relief fund, to
exchange on the organization¡¦s project of Disaster Relief and Preparedness.
During the visit, MRC representatives, including Mr. Philip
Chou, Vice President of Central Council, Mr. Quin Va, President of Directive
Council and Ms. Carmen Lei, Treasurer of Directive Council, had a dynamic discussion
on Macau¡¦s post-typhoon recovery with Mr. William Yiu, Executive Director, GEG
Foundation, Ms. Catherine Iu, Assistant Vice President, Corporate and Community
Relations and Ms. Linda Wong, Assistant Vice President, Media Relations of Public
Relations, GEG.
MRC representatives also presented their preparedness plans
to GEG, which include setting up a 5,000 square feet Disaster Preparedness Center.
Additionally, MRC will provide psychological support training for frontline
staff and volunteers, by inviting professional organizations to hold crisis
management experience sharing sessions, and sending teams out to learn about
disaster response, lifesaving skills.
On behalf of MRC, Mr. Philip Chou expressed gratitude to GEG
for a MOP5.6 million donation. He perceives that the donation is significantly
important for the execution of the organization¡¦s disaster relief and preparedness
work. According to Mr. Chou, MRC, with the fund, plans to set up a large-scale
disaster preparedness centre for Macau, increase relief materials and equipment
as well as strengthen rescue kills of relief teams. He believes the plans will
help residents prevent from future disasters and minimize injuries and damages.
Following the typhoon, GEG announced to donate MOP60 million
to assist affected citizens and team members. Apart from emergency relief, the
donation is also dedicated to the community¡¦s mid- to long-term recovery and
development via different non-profit organizations and social service groups.
