Macau ICBC donates MOP500,000
to support post-disaster relief

Macau Red Cross (MRC) launched various services to the local
residents after the destructive monstrous typhoon Hato, and hoped to help the
community returning to normal livelihood.
MRC volunteers, brought with drinking water and personal cleansing
items, visited those live-alone residents and some with mobility problems at
the Edificio Da. Angelica Lopes Santos, and several units located in Rua da
Ribeira do Pataneand Costa areas of which were seriously affected by the typhoon,
in addition, text messages of love and concerns were sent to Non-emergency Medical
Transfer Service users. Volunteers found a few of them were exhausted with drinking
water and failed to take prescription drugs as directed. Volunteers promptly
provided them with water and food to relieve them from desperate need.
Mobile first aid stations
MRC already set up two mobile first aid stations in Rua da
Casa Forte and Fai Chi Kei, to provide first aid services to the injured volunteers
while cleaning up the streets. As from today, more first aid stations will be
arranged in Rua da Barca¡BAvenida do Conselheiro Borja andHong Kung Miu Temple.
MRC is currently gathering damage data in residence of users
of the Non-emergency Medical Transfer Service, so as to repair or disassemble
their destructed doors and windows. MRC collaborates with the Architect Association
of Macau, Macau Institution of Engineers, Macau Association of Building Contractors
and Developers, Association of Macau Engineering Consultant Companies, Macau
Construction Association and Macau Construction Machinery Engineering Association
to assess potential hazards and to provide maintenance.
Yesterday, Macau ICBC Chairman Zhu Xiaoping and CEO Wu Long
presented to MRC a donation of MOP500,000 to support the post-disaster relief
program. On behalf of MRC, Central Council Vice President Chou Kuok Hei , Member
and Secretary, Directive Council Vice President Joao Manuel Ambrosio, Member
and Chief if Protocol Lau Veng Lin and Member Lim Kie Leng accepted the check.
Considering special financial aid to affected units
Zhu Xiaoping expressed that ICBC had been established in Macau
for years, and it is their duty to serve the affected residents. While the bank
is striving to restore individual outlets and facilities, they are also committed
to ensure normal services to the public. On the other hand, the bank is actively
involved in post-disaster reconstruction projects, and prepared to organize
a disaster relief volunteer team. In addition, they also consider to provide
special financial assistance to the affected units.
MRC adheres to focusing the local needy individuals and provide
assistance in time.
